Any useful innovation when made available to public in general has more or less had positive impact on world GDP.
Advent of AI wave has resulted in ‘n’ number of doomsday predictions for various job roles. Works well for marketing!
IMHO there will be an impact, more and better will be expected – faster. But eliminating the human element totally? Not possible. We need to keep in perspective that these very AIs are trained on user-generated data as well as feedback. Human ingenuity is far more relevant in today’s ChatGPT world. Personally, I run a check for AI generated content before consuming any of it. Using AI to improve your ideas and content is cool but personally when it comes to 100% AI generated content, I tend to lose interest.
Advent of computers, internet may have rocked the offline snail mail industry but has created an even more valuable email industry. What’s important is that the offline providers could now concentrate on shipping real and more valuable stuff thus catapulting their topline as well. It changed their value proposition. It’s a win-win.
The same goes for roles impacted by AI. It’s time to think deeper, learn new skills and technologies. Those who stay curious and adaptive will thrive, as has been the case with every great innovation.
It helps to think of AI as an augment rather than replacement!
